Perumahan Taman Alamanda (PTA) is a housing complex located in Jalan Kabupaten, Kecamatan Gamping, Kabupaten Sleman, Yogyakarta. It is occupied by people from diverse backgrounds. Some of them are families who want to get a home near the city of Yogyakarta
The problem arose when the developer of this housing complex (PT Agatama) discontinued the development of open spaces for a mini garden as promised. They argued that the company lacked budget. Seeing it as an unacceptable reason, the house owners complained and tried to discuss a shared budget allocation with the developer to design the garden. Unfortunately no agreement was met.
Having no option, the house owners decided to build and design the open space by their own collective budget. Hereby, we publish our design:
The mini garden consists of 3 areas:
1. The Pendopo (a large opened structure in front of a Javanese mansion, or an attached open veranda that serves as an audiance hall), this building will be used by the neighborhood complex to hold meetings, pray, and other small events.
2. The Playing Field, an area in which children can use the attractive child’s play for having fun and socialize with their friends. This area is made based on consideration that there are a lot of children there but they don’t have any outdoor playing area.
3. The Badminton Field, this area will cover the neighborhood’s need of sports activities. Almost all of them love to play badminton, furthermore, it can be used as a way to interact and socialize with people of the neighborhood.
